Altus Public Schools to continue COVID-19 Protocols Altus Public Schools will continue to follow the COVID-19 protocols set in place at the beginning of the school year through March 26, 2021. This will allow for Altus Public Schools faculty and staff to have been given the opportunity to complete the COVID-19 vaccination process and for Altus Public Schools administration to evaluate the effect of recent lifting of the city-wide mask mandate. APS protocols include the wea...ring of facial coverings for all adults and students when Jackson County is in the red or orange level on the Oklahoma State Department of Health COVID Alert Risk Management System. If Jackson County were to be labeled yellow, students in grades Pre-K through 3rd grade will be required to wear facial coverings in common areas and during times of transportation, however, Pre-K through 3rd grade students would be allowed to remove their masks while in the classroom setting. Our priority is to keep the students and our faculty and staff safe, and to have school as normal as possible, stated Altus Public Schools Superintendent, Roe Worbes. I am thankful we have been in school all year and want to finish the Spring semester as normal as possible for our students. See more

Altus Public Schools will continue to follow Orange protocols the week of March 8-12. The Oklahoma State Department of Health has Jackson County coded orange for the upcoming week. We will continue to be vigilant with our layered mitigation procedures throughout the school district to help keep our students, employees, and community as safe as possible. We urge parents to continue to screen students before school each morning as the first line of defense.
