Just a teaser of tomorrow morning’s vegetable giveaway! I see fried green tomatoes in someone’s future. We will also have: Yellow Squash, Zucchini, Beets, Cucumbers, Leeks, Slicing Onions, green Onions, Jalapeño Peppers, and maybe some Pickled Beets. Starts promptly at 7:00 am!
Does anyone have a motorized walk behind, or a riding mower that they no longer use, and would be willing to donate to the Garden? If so call or text me at +14056069253 and I will pick it up. Ours both gave up the ghost today!
Hello to all you who like Del City Community Garden: I find myself in a dilemma, and am desperately in need of volunteers tomorrow (Monday June 8th) morning. Friday afternoon, after all my wonderful helpers had gone home for a well deserved respite from the heat, UPS showed up with our order of 2,000 Sweet Potato Slips. These plants need to be planted ASAP. In addition to this problem, we have approximately 8,000 slicing onions that await packaging in net bags. We have lot...s of Gatorade, and bottled water available. PLEASE SHARE this post! We could sure use some volunteers! We will begin this work, and our regular Monday harvesting at 7:00 am. See more
Friday morning vegetable giveaway is a go! Lots of good things: Green Onions, Carrots, Radishes, Cabbage, Broccoli, Slicing Onions, Leeks, Turnips Yellow Squash, Zucchini, and lots of Greens including: Kale, Collards, Lettuce, and Turnips. The event will begin at 7:00 am in the front parking lot of the Del City Church of Christ 1901 Vickie Drive.
Due to the fact that Monday is a holiday and the weather forecast is calling for rain, we will not be having vegetable giveaway Tuesday. If all goes as hoped, on Friday we will in addition to items recently available, have Yellow Squash, Zucchini, Cucumbers, and Beets. We will be at the usual location of the front parking lot on the campus of the Del City Church of Christ- 1901 Vickie Drive, starting at 7:00 am. If raining we will use the garage next to the Garden building at the West end of parking lot.
