This month marked a monumental moment for one of our Directors, Sara Murphy Bondurant. This month Sara closed out a Jacobsen Trust account for the first time. These accounts were started over 4 years ago for children in DHS custody. Without Jacobsen Trusts, funds due to these children would have been spent on frivolous items in order for the children to retain benefits. Under the Trust program, Sara was able to take her knowledge of trust law and use a specialized, federally ...regulated trust to protect and earmark the funds for the major life needs for these children. After four years of holding the funds, Sara was able to send the funds to the now-adult so she could purchase a car to get to and from her college classes. What a wonderful head start for this person. We are so proud to use our knowledge of the law to serve the most vulnerable in our community.
