Earlier this morning, the Town of Granite had a electrical problem over by Family Dollar that caused a lot of sparks and some homes and businesses electricity to be off. It even caused a fire. BJ Jones, the Utility Supervisor informed us that it might possibly be an all day job. We are so sorry for this inconvenience. On another note, we are very thankful for our city crew that always get the electricity back on. Granite City Hall does not have electricity, so we will be closed until the power is restored, which could be most of the day. If you have an emergency, please call 535-2177 or my cell 580-706-0376. When your power gets restored, thank our city guys who are BJ Jones, Mike Coldwell, Josh Brewer and Devyn Sanders.

The city guys are putting up the decorations in the park. Our cowboy leaning at the cross has quit and we are looking for one to replace it. We have looked at many sites and have not had any luck. If anyone knows where I could buy one at, please call city hall 580-535-2116 or call my cell 580-706-0376. Or if someone has one and wants to get rid of it, I would like to buy it for our park. Lights are going out right out of the box. Laquita P.S. Please share so this gets around to several people! Thank you...

From what we are all seeing and hearing from our weather channels, today is not going to be a good day for many counties in SW Oklahoma and we are one of them. Tornadoes, high winds and lots of rain with the potential of big hail and possible flooding. So Granite, please stay weather aware and know where your family is. If you have elderly friends, help them to safety if need be. If you have a cellar or safe room, make sure that you have contacted city hall to be put on our list 535-2116. Be safe today! The whole Town of Granite is out of electricity. It is PSO and not Granite. We have been told that poles are down at Hobart because of the storm that passed through Hobart. They are not positive on the length of this outage, but hopefully no longer than an hour. And if it is longer, please don't kill the messenger!
