What you’re looking at may seem a bit ordinary, but the work that went on behind the scenes of these pictures spans multiple programs and at its core is project based learning coupled with design thinking! Students from Nicole Metzger’s Medical Office program, Jeff Standridge’s Information Technology Services program, and SCORE have collaborated in a project creating an environment where SCORE students learn life skills on how to call and set up an appointment with a medical ...office, Metzger’s students get real life practice on how to collect specific information from clients and set up appointments through an Open Emergency Medical Records (EMR), and IT students create a fully functioning medical office space, a security monitoring station, a large screen Zoom interface for remote teaching, and a server to run it all. This is Great Plains, this is Project Based Learning! See more

Milestone Moment #13 Great Plains Technology Center held a Grand Opening of its new offices at Central Mall on April 24, 1980. Great Plains was the only tech center at the time to offer programming in a shopping mall.
