Today we spotlight the middle school. We have 41 students across the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. With so many students, the middle school is really enjoying spreading out in our new secondary building. They are very active! The middle school is on the volleyball or basketball court at every recess, class break, and lunch period. Having the new gym has promoted a lot of camaraderie and the student’s volleyball skills have significantly improved over the past six months. The 6th ...Continue reading

Today we highlight the intermediate department. This department is unique because we actually have forty two students between the two grades. Typically we cap each class at 18 students, but we made an exception this past year. The reason for this exception was the unfortunate closing of St. Mary’s during the beginning of the pandemic. After St. Mary’s closed its doors, we were flooded with upper elementary student applications. Due to those circumstances, we hired three teach...Continue reading

This has been a big week for competitions! The virtual speech and debate regional competition began earlier this week and will be completed this Saturday. Our track and field team competed in its first ever track and field meet today in Cache. We have four junior high students who qualified for the state MathCounts competition. Those students are taking the test this evening. We will also compete in a choir solo and ensemble competition this Saturday in Edmond, and our soccer teams will have games this Saturday with the Lawton Soccer Club! The school year started off slow with many cancelations of competitions and events, but it is really ramping up for our last quarter. Please send the students some positive thoughts as they participate in all of these competitions!

The weather forecast for tomorrow looks beautiful and we are getting excited about the Fun Friday Babysitting Easter Egg Hunt! All elementary students and younger siblings are welcome to come join us for the Easter egg hunt and stay for snacks, games, and a movie. Drop off will be at the high school building, the egg hunt will be on the elementary campus, and then we will be back over in the high school building for the snack and movie. See you there!

Today we spotlight our primary department. The department is made up of our 1st-3rd grades. These three grades are full of bright students who are eager to learn at an accelerated pace. 1st Grade The first grade is made up of 16 really sharp students. Every student in the class is reading at a second grade level, many reading at a third or fourth grade level. The whole class can read at least forty words per minute, with several students reading seventy words per minute! The...Continue reading

Each year we use the final quarter to highlight all the amazing things our students have accomplished that year. In a pandemic, with cancellations becoming the new normal, we believe it is even more important to showcase what our students have accomplished despite what is going on in the world around them. Although clubs and competitions have looked different this year, our students are still accomplishing great things, and performing well in competitions across the state (...Continue reading

This morning our secondary choir participated in solo and ensemble competitions. Both the middle school and high school ensembles received superior ratings! Our soloists all received either an excellent or superior rating, and all of our high school choir members advanced to the state competition in April. We are so proud of the hard work these students put into their solo and ensembles. Congratulations LAAS Choir!

The secondary One Act Play team has been working hard on a production called, Objection, Disorder in the Court. Originally the play was set to debut last week, but it was canceled due to the snow. We have rescheduled the performance for next Friday, March 5th at 7:00. We welcome you to join us for performance in our secondary auditorium. Tickets are free but we are requiring tickets for entrance so we can limit seating and space guests out. If you would like to see the play, please reserve your tickets at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/143205392183

Hi LAAS community. We have been hesitant to ask people for scholarship donations this year. We know that these are hard times and that people are stretched thin. That being said, we are already receiving tons of scholarship applications for next year's students and the donations do not match the need. We have heard from some people who have been fortunate enough to maintain steady employment this year and also receive stimulus payments. If you find yourself with room in your ...budget for donations this year, please consider donating to the Oklahoma Scholarship Foundation and listing LAAS as the benefiting school. This money goes directly to scholarships for students who cannot afford the cost of tuition. This is also one of the only organizations that you can donate to that will give you tax credits for your donation. If you have questions about donating to OSF you can always reach out to us at [email protected]. If you are interested in donating, here is the link to the donation form: https://osfkids.org/wp-conte//2021/01/DonorForm_010121.pdf See more
