Today for Women’s History Month, we honor groundbreaking aviator Jacqueline Cochran for her many contributions in aviation. She was the first woman to break the... sound barrier, the first pilot to make a blind (instrument) landing, and set more distance and speed records than any other pilot, male or female. She was also instrumental in the formation of the WAAC and WASP’s for women in the military and has won numerous awards for her achievements in aviation, including the Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit, American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal and Armed Forces Reserve Medal.
