Last week, DC K.Reyes and Captain T.Mays attended the week long Blue Card Command Train-the-Trainer session in Phoenix, Arizona. Blue Card is a command training and certification system that trains company and command officers how to standardize local incident operations across their organization.

If we ever get out of winter, severe weather season would be next in line here in Oklahoma. This graphic, courtesy of the National Weather Service - Norman, describes each outlook risk category for severe thunderstorms.

Over the last three days Nichols Hills and The Village crews, along with members of The Village PD, took part in an Intro to Water Rescue class taught by OSU-FST. The purpose of the class is to teach first responders land based techniques for water rescue operations and how to assist the technical rescue teams that will enter the water for victims. Much was learned by the crews as the spillways in each district will sometimes fill during weather incidents.

Hopefully you didn’t forget to spring ahead into the future last night! Even if you did, don’t forget to change those batteries in your smoke detectors today. Be sure to test them monthly and change the detectors out if they’re 10 years old or older.
