On Peace Officers Memorial Day, we'd like to pay special recognition to the 32 Oklahoma City Police Department officers who have committed the ultimate sacrifice throughout the years. Their service and bravery will forever be remembered. Our hearts are with their loved ones and all the men and women in blue who continue to serve today.
Right... an accident... let's go with that.
Just going to leave this here... Thanks for shedding light on why the "defund the police" narrative IS DANGEROUS, National Fraternal Order of Police. Every day, officers get up, wear the badge and put their lives on the line in order to serve and protect their communities. This is what happens when you reduce the police force.
Every day is Bike to Work Day when you're part of the Oklahoma City Police Department Bike Patrol! Get to know the team keeping our downtown community safe.
Check out retired Lieutenant Latta. He retired after 35 years of service. While enjoying his retirement in Hawaii this week, he found some BROTHERS in BLUE, and surprised them with a gift card for Police Week. Retirement looks good on you, Sir. Oh yea, you might wish him and his lovely wife a Happy 40th Anniversary!! #hawaii50 #policeweek
We don't always team up, but when we do, it's to rescue adorable kittens. Thanks for the assist, Oklahoma City Fire Department!
"There are individuals across the United States that kiss their loved ones goodbye each morning, not knowing if it’ll be the last time. They go to work each day to protect us, some making the ultimate sacrifice for complete strangers." - National Fraternal Order of Police We don't serve because it's easy. We serve because we have an unwavering commitment to protect our communities. The National FOP will be holding a virtual memorial service on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. (CT) to honor our fallen brothers and sisters.
This week, Governor Kevin Stitt announced he will present three Oklahoma officers with the Oklahoma purple heart and the Oklahoma Medal of Valor to an Army National Guardsman. Among those being honored is Oklahoma City Police Department Officer Zachary Barby, who was involved in a shoot-out with a man suspected of two murders and a kidnapping last November. Officer Barby was hit in the torso, but the bullet was stopped by his ballistic vest. Two Tulsa Police Department LEOs will also be honored for their bravery and sacrifice, including fallen Sgt. Craig Johnson who was killed during a traffic stop last June.
Saying goodbye never gets any easier. Thank you for your service to the Oklahoma City Police Department, Tank! Fun fact: One of Tank's last searches ended with getting 42 pounds of methamphetamine off the streets.
Today, we're honoring a brother in blue whose life was taken far too soon. Officer Ray S. Clark was enroute to investigate a traffic accident where a small boy had been killed. Officer Clark’s scout car skidded out of control and struck a telephone pole. He was killed on impact. R.I.P. Officer Clark.
