"In the summer of 2009, SPC Brandon K. Steffey came into the Army Vet clinic on Bagram Air Force Base, where I was deployed. He was exhausted and was bringing his Military Working Dog (MWD) Maci in for heat injury after they had been searching for Bowe Bergdahl; both recovered. Maci was a combat tracker. We saw each other for training and kennel inspections. They worked hard and worked often. October 25, 2009, they were KIA. I am sad that they are gone and blessed that they came into my life.
