Remember the Ten Run 12.05.2022

Congratulations to Danielle Deros! One of our 2022-2023 Remember the Ten Run Memorial Scholarship Recipients. Kane will be receiving a $1,000 scholarship this coming academic year. Danielle Dani Deros is a fourth-year doctoral student in the clinical psychology program at Oklahoma State University studying under the mentorship of Dr. DeMond Grant. Her research focuses on the impacts of social support, social exclusion, and the social environment on biological and cognitive ...features of adult social anxiety. She is originally from Baltimore, Maryland and completed her undergraduate degrees at the University of Maryland at College Park, but is excited about all of the opportunities that she has had since moving to Stillwater. Clinically, she has served the OSU and surrounding Payne County communities as an associate at the Psychological Services Center conducting individual and group therapy as well as an Assistant Director of Assessment Services at the PSC. Currently, she is the graduate clinical intern at OSU’s College of Veterinary Medicine where she advocates for and assists veterinary students in obtaining mental health and wellness resources, including individual therapy and education on stress management interventions. She wants to thank the Remember The Ten steering committee and the OSU community for continuing to recognize and honor those who had tragically passed away as well as for cultivating a program that strives to best serve those who have been affected by loss. She is grateful for their consideration and the privilege to receive this scholarship which will allow her to further her education in mental health and wellness as well as to better serve the OSU community. Go Pokes! We are excited to announce that this is our 11th class of scholarship recipients! That means that next year, we will have awarded $110,000 to OSU Master’s and Doctoral students who are studying in areas related to grief counseling. We couldn’t do it without all the support from our participants, volunteers, donors and community! THANK YOU!

Congratulations to Alexandra DeLone! One of our 2022-2023 Remember the Ten Run Memorial Scholarship Recipients. Kane will be receiving a $1,000 scholarship this coming academic year. Lexie DeLone is originally from Camp Hill, PA. She attended the College of Charleston’s Honors College and earned a bachelor degree in psychology. From there she earned masters’ degrees in experimental psychology and child life from Wake Forest University and the University of Charleston, South... Carolina, respectively. Lexie practiced as a certified child life specialist in the Division of Pediatric Oncology at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center for 5 years. There, she witnessed the resiliency of children and families facing potentially life limiting diagnoses every day. It was the strength and stressors of her patients and their families that motivated her return to earn her doctorate in clinical psychology. As a first-year graduate student, Lexie is enjoying exploring Oklahoma with her dog, Mia, and cherishes time spent with family and friends. Lexie is very grateful to have received support from the Remember the Ten Run Scholarship and aims to continue working with children and families facing potentially life limiting illnesses and grief and loss through research initiatives and clinical interventions. We are excited to announce that this is our 11th class of scholarship recipients! That means that next year, we will have awarded $110,000 to OSU Master’s and Doctoral students who are studying in areas related to grief counseling. Congratulations to Valeriya Chalmers One of our 2022-2023 Remember the Ten Run Memorial Scholarship Recipients. Kane will be receiving a $1,000 scholarship this coming academic year. Valeriya Chalmers is a graduate student in the OSU Marriage and Family Therapy, studying to be a therapist. She was born in Moscow, Russia and came to the US three years ago. Her husband, his father and grandfather were all OSU alumni and it was the first university in America that she visited a...s a tourist. Valeriya never imagined that she would be a student here one day, working towards a profession that gives her both immense personal satisfaction and contributes to the well-being of society. I am honored and grateful to have received this scholarship. I believe the mission of the endowment is a worthy cause, as grief and loss are not feelings society equips us to handle This particularly hits home for me now, given the senseless war in Ukraine. I have many friends and family who suffer the consequences of this horrible tragedy. Grief over the loss of loved ones, a loss of hope for the future and a sense of helplessness to do anything about it are emotions many of those close to me now feel. I believe that when we are able to properly address those feelings with compassion and understanding it helps us feel as if we’re not alone, and is a source of comfort in the face of unimaginable adversity." We are excited to announce that this is our 11th class of scholarship recipients!
