Road to Recovery 27.04.2022

I know some of you have sent messages telling me that you haven't had an update on the family lately. This one is long but I figure I would hit everything at o...nce it has been awhile since I have posted. I will start with Shawna who continues to show us her strength since the night of the injury. She continues to push forward right now fighting in her own way. First up on the block for her is a surgery that she is going to have that will aid in her quality of life. It is one a few to come that gives her a little more independence while on the path to what will become a recovery plan for her. She has good days and other days not so good. She constantly fights a battle with her breathing and that can be heartbreaking to observe. The Lord continues to bless her and Raymond and Shevy a long the way. Today she received a specialized vest that will aid in her breathing, we didn't think she would be approved for it but lo and behold it was paid for. I am still amazed to see that throughout all the need and everyday challenges that the 3 of them have right now, the Lord comes up with solutions to problems that seemed impossible to me and always right at the perfect time. She really needed that vest. She is still fighting a serious bed sore that can potentially infect the bottom of her spine. she came home from the hospital with the bed sore, that will be another surgery to help aid in the recovery of that. The bed sore complicates the situation with her breathing. She needs to be turned on a regular basis but some days her breathing does not allow her to be turned on her side so that slows the healing of the bed sores. We need prayers on that one folks. Another one of those solutions that I can't fathom when I am around her but she continues on. The breathing complications and the bed sore (about the size of a fist)are only 2 side injuries that came with the total quadriplegic diagnosis. Her injury remains highly complex for the doctors and she has several doctors now. Shevy, resiliant as ever, precious even more, loves her mommy and daddy so much. She continues to look for new ways that she wants to help Shawna. I said it before on a previous post about Shevy, this is all just a natural part of life for her now. She still says that she wants mommy to walk again and or not be sick but is glued by her side most of the time. At 5 she still just jumps in bed with Mommy when she can and quickly off to sleep when doing so. Her bond with mommy and daddy is tighter now then ever and she makes sure they know she is there. Awesome kid, awesome. Raymond remains overwhelmed most of the time but does not see giving up as ever option. I admire his strength. Right now most of his effort is about the move to the new residence that needs to happen yesterday while taking care of Shawna. Although a lot for him he is learning to take the challenges one at a time. Right now the question is on the table for him to work or to remain home with Shawna. We are working on more volunteers to free up his time. More prayers there... So as the dust continues to settle from all of this we have got to see the Lord move in ways that truly baffles my mind. Shawna needed a ramp to even get into the house they have to move into, and a local church came forward and put a 37 ft ramp in. Awesome. Laundry at the house is almost a daily need and when Ray and Shawna's washer and dryer went out in the same week, yes both of them. Someone blessed them a week later with a new washer and dryer. Shawna needed an oxygen unit, someone got her an oxygen unit. I have seen people donate their time which is just as valuable as money and they still need that just throwing that out there, lol. The time and complexities involved just to make this move happen would be whole other post just to tell the need of it all. But this part right here is my way of just thanking those you who over these last few months have blessed them in whatever way you saw fit. It is truly moving to me to see how the Lord works through people. I really feel that way when I say that. I really think that people feel led to do something for someone and they feel that way for a reason. That reason to me is the holy spirit. There is not much you could say to me that would make feel any different. Regardless, thank you. I am going to end here by saying thank you for taking the time to read this. Ray, Shawna and Shevy occupy a large part of my heart and made me part of their family, so this blew a hole in the world for all of us. I continue to look for the blessings during the challenges and periods of despair. It renews my hope. I expect good things for them, please keep them in your prayers. Was talking to Shawna this morning. I asked her if she would care if I took a picture of her and Shevy. I had a different picture selected and had asked if I could post it on FB. Eventually, they both drifted off to sleep. I was watching them and I would catch myself thinking about our creator and how he hard-wired children. This may be an odd thing to say but I watched Shevy get out of bed, sleepy this morning, walk out in the living room and crawl into bed with her mama ac...ting as if everything was as normal as ever. As she crawled in her/Shawna's bed she placed her mama's arms around her and just hugged her and fell back to sleep. Although tearing up as I type this I just have to thank the Lord for being such an awesome and loving God to us. For Shevy it was just the normal thing to do since Mommy can’t move her arms. Just seeing how children adapt in awesome way to an otherwise tragic situation. Before Shawna fell asleep she told me she is just soaking this up. I had to share this with you guys. More of that finding the blessings in the middle of the storm. Priceless to see. jim 12.09.2020 See more

Well good news they are down sizing her canula today where they will be able to cap it off and she will be able to breath on her own. This is the last step before they take it out completely. Thank you God for all that you have done and continue to do for her. #teamshawnaWell good news they are down sizing her canula today where they will be able to cap it off and she will be able to breath on her own.
