The man that has spent most the day on top of the I-244 sign is now down and receiving medical attention. He came down after Tulsa firefighters, Tulsa Police Department, EMSA OKLAHOMA, and Oklahoma Highway Patrol spent hours working for a peaceful resolution. #peacefulresolve #workingtogetherforTulsa

Yesterday afternoon, Captain Robbie Scott and his Engine 12 B Platoon crew had the opportunity to make the day a little better for the Riverwest campers. Urban Strategies Inc. is hosting the camp and creating an amazing environment for these lucky kids. Tulsa City Councilor Mykey Arthrell, among other camp councilors, has been ensuring the kids have time for reading, learning about different careers, riding bikes, gardening, and so many other fun activities. Good afternoon Dear Friends from Dr. Craig N. Lamb.... This week's historical pictures are from the archives of the Tulsa Fire Museum. They feature four pictur...es of the Liberty Towers Condominiums Third Alarm Fire that occurred on Wednesday morning, May 3, 1972. Liberty Towers Condominiums 1502 South Boulder Avenue 1130 05 03 1972 E-1, E-4, E-2, E-9, S-4, L-2, L-1 Car 611 Second Alarm E-5, E-6, E-3, L-3, Car 614 Third Alarm E-10, E-8, L-4, Car 612 First Alarm Commander District Fire Chief Ralph A. McCall, Jr., Car 611 Second Alarm Commander Assistant Fire Chief Harry N. Lamb, Car 610 Third Alarm Commander Deputy Fire Chief W. Riley Mackey, Car 634 Fire Communications Fire Dispatcher Robert Bruce Pyle, KKC-987 It was Tulsa's first 3rd Alarm Fire in two decades. "B" Platoon had just come on duty at 8 am. It would become Assistant Fire Chief Harry N. Lamb, Car 610, first multiple alarm fire since being promoting to Assistant Fire Chief. Here is the story as told to me by my dear friend Fire Dispatcher Robert Bruce Pyle, about that fateful day. Engine 5 was on a trash fire and Ladder 2 was first on the scene. We received the call as smoke in the lobby. Fire on the upper floors was quickly discovered and a 10-22 Second Alarm Fire was transmitted by Assistant Fire Chief Harry N. Lamb, Car 610. During his survey of the upper floors, District 1 District Fire Chief Ralph A. McCall, Jr., Car 611, walked through a sliding glass door that he did not see, due to the heavy smoke, his injuries can be seen in Picture Two below. I had just dispatched the Second Alarm Assignment and was moving up companies when Deputy Fire Chief W. Riley Mackey, Car 634, while still enroute to the scene, transmitted a 10-33 Third Alarm Fire. Come to find out, all of the fire apparatus we were moving up at that time went to the fire. The Liberty Towers Condominiums Fire, it was later discovered, was moving between floors because the openings to the pipe chase and laundry shoots were covered with plywood instead of metal. Fire Dispatcher Robert Bruce Pyle, KKC-987, was dispatching and he had to step away to take a final exam in Fire Technology at Tulsa Junior College. When he came back, he sat in front of the console, Picture Four below, and found that nothing had changed since the time he had left. It was like he had never been gone. That was my first time dispatching a third alarm fire. They called the Drill Tower to send the cadets to help load hose at the end of the fire. Wonder how many guys who were at the Drill Tower at that time remember this fire? Every time I go by the Liberty Tower's building, I think of that fire. If any of you have any memories of the Liberty Towers Condominiums Third Alarm Fire, or fought this fire, we will look forward to your comments.
