Hey everyone this is just a reminder there is a curfew for anyone 17 years of age and under. The curfew is 10:00 even on weekends. If caught the parents will receive a fine and they could be charged with a crime. We have had some unlocked vehicles broken into and someone knocking on doors late at night. This is also dangerous for the kids who are doing it. The only time a juvenile can legally be out is going to or from church a sporting event or a job. Then it is only to or from the event. If anyone knows who is doing this or sees anyone out after curfew please contact us and you can remain anonymous.

Hey everyone just wanted to remind everyone that tomorrow night is Halloween. We want everyone to have fun. Just remember throwing water balloons or eggs at any houses, cars, or people will not be tolerated. Also we will not tolerate anyone setting fires. If you are caught doing any of these things you will be fined. There are lots of younger kids trick-or-treating with there parents who has a right to have fun without having to worry about getting egged. Also our 10:00 P.M. curfew is still in affect unless you are out with your parents. If u want to throw eggs or water balloons against each other that is fine as long as you are in a field away from our tick-or-treater's. Have a fun and safe Halloween

Just wanted to let everyone know, the Alex Police Department was given an old War Mortar shell this morning. We wanted to make sure to dispose of it properly and safely. We called the OHP Bomb Squad to let them know what we had. We sent them pictures of the Mortar and they got us in touch with the Army Bomb Squad. They arrived around 1330 hours and deemed it to be a live Mortar. Around 1550 hours after school let out and it was safe to detonate, the Army Bomb Squad and the Alex Police Department took it to the Alex Gun range and detonated it. That was the two loud booms that was heard today. Hope everyone can rest easy.

Hey everyone we wanted to let everyone know that the post from yesterday about under age kids who are driving without a driver's license was a courtesy post. We didn't have to post it we could have just stopped them. We posted it as a friendly warning and to give the parents a chance to help with this problem. If we were to look the other way and they were to have an accident their fault or not your insurance is not going to pay for fixing either vehicle. Driving a vehicle is... not a right but a privilege that is why you have to be a certain age and take a driving test in order to obtain a driver's license. It is illegal for anyone to drive without a valid driver's license. Again this was just a courtesy post to give the parents a chance to fix this problem. Also there were a few comments about us enforcing all laws equally. We always have always and will continue to do so and we do not care who they are or what their last name is as some comments stated. So please understand we are not trying to pick on anyone we just want to keep our great little town safe and protected. Thanks hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. See more

This message is for the parents of any under age drivers that have been driving the streets in Alex. It is unlawful for any person to drive without a valid drivers license. It is also illegal for any parent or guardian to allow their child to drive on any public roadway. This is a courtesy message to all parents. If any non licensed juvenile is caught driving they will be taken to the Alex Police Department, where the parents will be called to post bond. If the parent has allowed the child to operate a motor vehicle they will receive a citation also. The vehicle will be impounded and taken to the wrecker yard. I hope that the parents of the juveniles that have been reported driving the streets will put a stop to it before Law Enforcement has to get involved. Thanks Alex Police Department

On Friday March 31st officer Robbie Breslin pulled over a vehicle for defective equipment. The driver was a convicted felon and officer Breslin found a hidden pistol in the vehicle the driver was arrested and booked for felonious possession of a firearm. a convicted felon can not possess a firearm. Another great job by the Alex Police Department.

ASST.CHIEF J. LITTRELL made a traffic stop on a car who was speeding in the school zone and following to close and the guy couldn't understand why he was arrested and not be allowed to drive off because he didn't have a driver's license. We explained in the state of Oklahoma you have to take and pass the driving test that's why they have the law. Driving is a privilege not a right. Good job ASST.CHIEF LITTRELL

Hey everyone we are concerned about people speeding in the school zones and passing the school buses with the stop signs out and flashing lights on. We can have no tolerance for breaking these laws. There were four citations last week and one already this week passing the buses. On main street we've cited several for speeding 15 to 20 over the speed limit of 25 m.p.h. while the flashing lights were on and children in the crosswalk. Remember all fines are double in the school zones and for passing the buses you could have your license suspended for a year. We would rather everyone work together to keep the kids safe so please be aware and pay attention when taking your children to school or picking them up. Please pass this along to everyone.

Hey everyone just wanted to let everyone know the I.R.S scam is going around again. If you should recieve a call from the I.R.S. do not answer it. They could have different phone numbers that they call from. One number reported to us is 202-791-4446 I called the number and it had a voice mail that has not been set up. It was supposed to be from Washington D.C. but if the I.R.S. tries to contact you it will be by certified mail and then someone would come to your residence. Th...e I.R.S. office out of Austin, will usually be the one to send you a letter. Please do not respond to the phone call and DO NOT SEND ANY MONEY if you recieve one of these calls. Again this is just a scam and most of these call are actually from overseas. They can make it sound professional and they skim people for lots of money. The best way for us to beat them is not answer and report it to us. thank you and have a blessed day. See more

Hey Everyone we've had a couple of reports of a phone scam calling people and telling them they are the I.R.S and that they didn't file there taxes and have a warrant and if they don't send money they will be arrested. This is a scam that happens every year at this time. If you receive a call from these people just hang up. Please do not send them money or give out any of your personal information. Most of these calls even if it's a local or a United States number are from another country. If u want to write the number that called you down and turn it is to us we can keep a log. The I.R.S. will not call you and ask for money or tell you you have a warrant they will send a certified letter to start with. Everyone have a fun and safe weekend.
