It's springtime in Southwest Oklahoma and that means storms are always possible. Storms Come in many shapes and sizes into our lives and one thing we learn around here is you cannot outrun them. That especially includes the storms in our souls, hearts and minds. If you're going through a stormy time don't try to do it alone we can help you. Spring is almost here! And with that comes busy days ahead. Of course the second week of March we turn our clocks one hour ahead. For some that's very difficult due to sleep patterns. Do you get enough rest? Does your body need 8, 10, 12 hours sleep? Do you need a midday nap? Examine your sleep habits and make sure you are in bed at a reasonable time to get however many hours of sleep that you need. Sleep Studies have shown that most Americans do not get the rest they need. This brings on anxiety, causes more stress and difficulty even in our relationships with other people let alone jobs and school. Winter is hard on people, some more than others. In this part of the country we have cold, hot, and this year, mostly very dry. You may not realize it but the weather can strongly affect your moods and even your thought processes. Now we here at Selah can do nothing about the weather but if you would like someone to talk to or if you are suffering what they call the 'Winter Blues', then call us and we'll make an appointment for you. Remember, our services are a Ministry to the community so there is no charge.

Most of the stress of the holidays is finally passed. Now we deal with the day-to-day stresses! Psalm 34:18 reminds us that He is always with us even as we suffer great loss. This time of year when we remember those that have gone before us the pain can become fresh and new. Remember, the Lord is with you. Your grief is yours but you can give it to Him and He will carry it for you. Rejoice in the knowledge that you will see them again and that all will be reconciled. Christmas can be a time of healing.

For some of us, this time of year can be extremely stressful. Especially if family or emotional issues are of prime importance. What's your struggle today? Anger, frustration, disappointment, or maybe fear? We all are under attack at one time or another and the enemy would have us believe that we are alone in that battle. But we are not. God is always there but sometimes it's hard to realize that he's talking to us and that he's trying to guide us and so, he may well send us to another believer. Even if you're not a believer in Christ, you can still benefit greatly in your struggles by being and talking with another who is sympathetic yet not patronizing. Just a reminder folks that we are a community service. We provide counseling at no cost, no fee. We do this for those who are underinsured or uninsured. But we will accept anyone who is willing to begin to change in their lives. Glad Tidings church hosts our office and is very supportive of the efforts of Selah. Just a word about grief and struggle. As we see all those who have been tremendously impacted by hurricanes wildfires floods and grief that doesn't make the newspapers and TV, we need to remember to place it all in God's hands. Don't let it overwhelm you, don't spend hours focused on the television, get out of the house and go for a walk, read some scriptures, spend time with positive friends, and of course make sure that at least once a week you're in the house of the Lord t...o worship and spend time with fellow Believers. If you're not a believer in Christ find out why - read the book The Case for Christ and see if you can find a flaw in the reasoning of the author. But whatever you do, remember God is God and he is in control and though we may not understand why he allows suffering, he knows what he's doing and if you trust him you can be confident in that trust.
