As an Advanced EMT I always wonder if people think about needing an ambulance to come and pick up a family member. How many steps is ems going to have to take a cot up or a stair chair if the service has one. Is there enough room down the hallway to turn a cot into the room? If you have a loved one with an illness or an aging parent or grandparent placing their room closest to the point where EMS will enter will cut down on time spent trying to navigate obstacles and give them a greater success of helping your loved one.
