*****Freezing water lines****** There are numerous people calling the police department due to broken water lines in their homes. A best practice to get into is let a faucet in your home steady drip so there is water constantly flowing through the pipes. ... A common guide is open the faucet furthest from your water meter, also if you have any faucets that are on an outside/external wall let those drip. Also as a precaution stay indoors unless you have an emergency!

PLEASE, unless it is an emergency, do not drive in the bad weather conditions. You may not have snow covered roads, but there is a chance there is ice on the roadways, especially on the bridges Call your family and friends to check up on them, make sure they are ok and advise them not to drive with the road conditions the way they are. If you do have to go out, leave yourself extra time to get to where you are going!

Thanks Richard Luper, I took this from your page! IF YOU HAVE TO GET OUT DURING THE UPCOMING BAD WEATHER!!! Best to stay home , check on loved ones etc. Snow/Ice... One of the most important things to remember when driving in snow is this: It’s probably going to take you twice as long to get where you’re going, so make sure you allow yourself plenty of time. The last thing you want to be doing is speeding on icy roads to get to your destination on time! Test out your brakes. Your car will perform differently in the snow than it would on a dry road. If you’re new to snow driving, it’s probably a good idea to practice braking in an empty parking lot so you can see how your car reacts to the amount of pressure you apply to the brake pedal. Take corners slowly. Give yourself plenty of time to slow down before turning. Taking a corner with too much speed can cause you to lose control of your vehicle. Accelerate gradually. Your tires are likely to spin in place if you try to accelerate too quickly. Beware of black ice! Black ice a thin layer of transparent ice on a roadway can cause your car to spin out and you can quickly lose control. Watch the road ahead of you, and try to avoid driving over areas that look slick. Keeping these tips with you can help you manage the road in some of the most common situations. **********************UPDATE********************* This item has been located and is in police possession, thank you for your assistance! ***************************************************... The Broken Bow Police Department is in need of assistance from the public. Sometime in the past 2 weeks, a business was broken into within the city limits, inside this business was an Oxford Instruments Analytical Lab-X3500 testing unit, this unit is used to analyze the chemical makeup of a finished product. The process is done by the use of a small X ray tube housed in a fully shielded and interlocked radiation enclosure within the unit. If the enclosed housing unit, (large pic of red and white cylinder with tube extending from the side) is opened, the person or persons in the immediate area of the unit will become sick with radiation poisoning. The company who manufactures the machine is telling us the possibility of someone being able to open this cylinder is highly unlikely due to the way it is manufactured. Please; if anyone locates or comes in contact with this unit leave it alone and call the Broken Bow Police Department immediately at (580) 584-3310. If you have seen, or know where this unit is located, you may call the PD anonymously with the location of this machine. Below are pictures of a similar unit and the enclosed cylindrical housing that is inside the unit. The most important thing is for the safety of the public and secondly, the retrieval of this unit.
