This precious droopy face belongs to Daisy. When we first met her, she was very sick. X-rays showed a mass in her abdomen so large, it was hard to tell which organ it was coming from. We sent her to Dr. Melinda Upton, who is board certified in internal medicine and oncology, for an abdominal ultrasound. The news was devastating. The large mass was a cancerous kidney. Thankfully, her function was good in the other kidney. Her mom approved surgery, and together with the excell...ent surgical skills of Dr. Troy McNamara at the Animal Emergency Center, we were able to successfully remove it. Dr. Upton was watching from the wings, and was able to give us an on site microscopic evaluation of the tumor while the surgery was still taking place. Daisy recovered amazingly well from surgery, and was closely monitored at the Animal Emergency Center. Fortunately, she had no life-threatening complications after surgery. Because of the massive size and location of the tumor, we were unable to guarantee it was removed completely. She continued to see Dr. Upton for chemotherapy, which she tolerated extremely well. We are so happy to report that Daisy has been off of chemo, and is doing great with no return of cancer that we can tell. She is truly a miracle pup! *more pics in comments* See more
