Missing our State and County Fairs!!!!

Due to the evolving COVID-19 health crisis, its impact on community health and well-being, the Carter County Free Fair Board of Directors has made the decision to cancel the 2020 Carter County Free Fair. To be successful, the planning for each year's Carter County Free Fair, begins shortly after the previous one, so this decision was not taken lightly and had been the topic of meetings and conversations. In June, we had decided to try continuing with the Fair, with only the ...entering of livestock and the exhibits that Carter County residents have been working on throughout the year hoping for that blue ribbon. We were prepared to take extra precautions for social distancing and extra sanitation. The Carter County Fair takes pride as being the county’s longest running event, to entertain and promote our county’s traditions, talents, diversity, vision and Agricultural Heritage, safely and to promote education for the youth of Carter County through exhibits and tours. We knew we were being hopeful. In the current situation of COVID-19, there is no feasible way for the Fair to put proper precautions in place while maintaining the Fair environment you know and love. While we cannot predict what the COVID-19 pandemic will look like in September, the recent surge in positive cases is troubling for all of us. This is the safest and most responsible decision we could make for all involved at this point. Thank you to the Carter County Fair Board, Carter County Extention and the many volunteers and workers. Carter County Fair premium checks are ready!!! A little late due to computer glitches!! Checks will be at the OSU Extension office located at 25 A Street NW Sui...te 202 (above election board) from 8 to noon and 1 -4:45 pm through Friday, October 25th. Please bring Driver License or other form of photo ID with proof of address. Checks not picked up will be mailed the following week. Thank you all for continuing to support your county fair. This beautiful lady enters exhibits in the Carter County Free Fair every year. This year her homemade dinner rolls were able to go from county level to state level. So proud of her!!

The judges had such a hard time with the Ugly Lamps, they made 2 classes!!!! Congrats Noah and Leslie on your 1st place wins! See more
