The Cherokee Heritage Center holds such gratitude to the work and legacy of Mr. Richard W. Starbuck. Mr. Starbuck dedicated his time and efforts to ensuring the history of the Moravians were shared. The Cherokee Heritage Center, through the Cherokee Heritage Press, has had a long-standing partnership with his accomplishment in translating Moravian missionary writings, providing first-hand accounts of daily life among the Cherokees. In this time, 9 volumes of "Records of the ...Moravians Among the Cherokees" have been published with volume 10 currently in production. Each book includes original accounts spanning years with the Cherokees starting in 1752. Even during his declining health, he continued to bring forth these historical records that given much insight into Cherokee culture, society, and personalities. The Cherokee Heritage Center would like to send our deepest condolences to his wife Susan, daughter, Victoria, and all of his family. See more
