McClain County Deputies training on new Mental Health iPads which were recently provided through a grant partnership with Central Oklahoma Community Mental Health Center (COCMHC) and the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS). Unfortunately, we are seeing an increase in persons in crisis calls and having the ability to immediately place the consumer in front of a Licensed Mental Health Professional has been beneficial to the person in cris...is and to responding deputies. This is largely due to the consumer being within the comfort and safety of their normal everyday surroundings effectively decreasing the potential for conflicts which may arise due to the consumer being detained and transported. The McClain County Sheriff’s Office mission is to provide a safe and effective avenue for consumers to receive the help they need with minimal disruption to their everyday normal life. The implementation of the Mental Health iPads provided through COCMHC allows our Office to achieve its mission in the most humane and safe way possible. Detective Bryan Murrell Cathy Billings, Executive Director at COCMHC said, We are very excited for this new partnership the McClain County Sheriff’s Department! We are hopeful for more of these collaborations with other law enforcement agencies in Cleveland and McClain Counties. Having a Licensed Mental Health Provider at the other end of an iPad, will connect citizens in need with real time crisis assistance, and help our law enforcement partners when they are working their communities. Thank you McClain County Sheriff's Office
