Latest update: Mayor Jon Moore released a statement yesterday afternoon stating that the City of Ardmore has adopted Governor Stitt's recovery plan, OURS - Open Up and Recover Safely - A Three-phase Approach to Open Oklahoma's Economy as the official road map for re-opening our local economy. The three-phased approach for recovery is intended to mitigate risk of resurgence of COVID-19. April 24, 2020, the following businesses can reopen: Personal care businesses, such as ...hair salons, barbershops, spas, nail salons, and pet groomers can reopen for appointments only, must adhere to sanitation protocols, and follow guidelines posted on the Oklahoma Department of Commerce website regarding social distancing between customers and visitors at personal care businesses. May 1, 2020, the following businesses can reopen: Retail, dining, entertainment can operate using CDC recommended social distancing and sanitation protocols. Gyms can reopen if they adhere to CDC-recommended social distancing and sanitation protocols. I fall under the May 1st section but, as I said in my last post, I have been able to allow one or two customers in if serving them curbside isn't viable. Either way, we can do business using the prescribed guidelines. Since social distancing won't work with lessons it may be a spell before that can start back up. Have a blessed weekend!

Latest update: I have been doing some inside business on a limited basis since Tuesday. I can only allow one or two people in at a time and am strictly adhering to safety measures by briefing customers before they enter. Don't be embarrassed to wear a mask. I understand. Until things pick up I will be open 10-3 on Saturdays but have extended closing on Friday until 6. As for joy strumming, please wait until things are better as I have to sterilize anything held by a cus...tomer for the protection of the other customers. I've secured the PPP small business loan so that I can keep paying Jeremy for the next 10 weeks and assist me with the utilities and some rent. That was a relief because funding had run out on the federal level. Citizen's Bank had secured the amount I needed because my app was in process and I was able to get it. Huge thanks for their help in the matter. This will be a big help to both Jeremy and me. I got this update on Guitar Center earlier from Music Trade Magazine: KANSAS CITY HEALTH OFFICIALS have ordered Guitar Center to suspend operations at its 700,000-square-foot distribution center under a statute that permits only essential businesses to operate during the COVID-19 pandemic. The operation, which employs 300, fulfills orders for all of Guitar Center’s online platforms, including Musician’s Friend, GuitarCenter.com, and Woodwind&Brasswind.com. Guitar Center management had previously argued that automated systems in the facility made it possible for employees to maintain the six-foot social distancing recommended by health officials. They also said that the facility was subject to a rigorous cleaning regime. Local officials were not persuaded. Separately, several prominent manufacturers have reported that Guitar Center is suspending payments to vendors to conserve cash for the duration of the shutdown. So: Without the distribution center in Kansas operating any fulfillment of on line orders will be highly delayed if not available at all. As I've said Guitar Center, at last posted information I've seen, is hovering at about $800,000 of debt, down from about $1 billion two years ago (source Google). That may increase as interest on the debt is added. A loss of income for an extended period could do serious damage to the company. Additionally, failing to pay their debts owed to distributors and suppliers may eventually make it difficult for them to get inventory once the green flag goes up. We'll have to see how this unfolds. Many of the brick & mortar small dealers are jubilant and I won't lie and say I'm for big box stores but I hate to see a company that size fail and lose so many jobs. Many of those employees are musicians, like myself, and may not be able to stay in this field of retail. Please call before you come and let me know you're coming. As always, if you can't make it by closing time, let me know and I'll stay. I'm here to help. Be safe. Jimmy @ DaCapo See more

Friends and customers. Hope everyone is safe and well. We have been blessed with the ability to re-open to curb side sales. My plan is to be here 10-6 Monday thru Friday and 10-3 on Saturday. We are now also allowed to conduct inside sales with certain restrictions. First, we must limit inside activity to only a few people and observe distancing protocol. I have a mask and will be glad to wear it if you so desire. I won't check your temperature but I do ask that if you are having any symptoms, please allow me to service your needs at your car. At this time, and until the green flag is waived, I feel the need to limit guitar playing to no joy rides, please, because I have to sterilize anything that is touched. Thank you for your support and have a blessed day.

Friends and customers; last evening the city of Ardmore initiated a "shelter in place" order and this has forced me to cease all sales including curb side. I will have to remain closed for business until this resolution is lifted. Music stores are considered nonessential and tell that to a guitar player who breaks a string or a drummer who breaks his last drum stick. Ha! Sorry folks, this wasn't my call. I'll post as soon as I can reopen.
