PLEASE SHARE!! MEDIA RELEASE Reference: January 19th, 2021, Shooting... On 01-19-21, Ardmore Patrol Division responded to the 600 block of D St. SE in reference to a reported accidental shooting. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the victim George Powell IV. Powell IV sustained a gunshot wound to his upper chest and was taken to Mercy hospital via ambulance for treatment. Later, Powell IV succumbed to his injury. After the initial investigation, the injury to Powell IV did not coincide with the statements given by witnesses. After many hours of investigation, it has been determined that Jonathan Higginbotham JR was in possession of the firearm when it was fired and killed Powell IV. Ardmore Investigation Division has attempted contact with Higginbotham JR multiple times at numerous addresses; however, no contact has been made with Higginbotham JR. First Degree Manslaughter charges were submitted to the District Attorney’s Office and on 02-22-21, an arrest warrant was issued for Higginbotham JR. If anyone has any information on Higginbotham JR’s whereabouts, please contact the Ardmore Police Department at (580)223-1212.

Update 10:15 a.m., Feb. 16, Southwest Power Pool has notified OG&E that temporary service interruptions are not required at this time. We continue to coordinate... with SPP should more action be required. While temporary service interruptions are not being required at this time, the continued extreme cold weather forecasted for the region, combined with the high demand for natural gas, increases the potential for the reinstatement of these short-term service interruptions. Please continue taking steps to reduce natural gas and electricity use to minimize further interruptions. See more
