Eagletown Volunteer Fire Department 11.05.2021

Firefighters Brecheisen, Billy, and Lt. Jones participated in a multi company drill with Broken Bow firefighters at the regional training center. The instructors covered hose line advancing and nozzle operations in live burn conditions and or smoke training. These men and BBFD volunteers gave up there morning to train to protect the citizens and property of the districts that they serve. We wish to also thank County training officer/BBFD shift Captain Cody Gilbert, Firefighters Shilo Martin, Aaron Gibson, D'andre Owens, and retired firefighter instructor Clancy Childs for their efforts in making this class a success.

Eagletown Volunteer Fire Department 05.04.2021

We know that an extreme cold winter storm is advancing toward us. We know that this event will cause hazardous conditions on our roadways and even at our homes/businesses. Please remember during this time of emergency, to please know the proper use of space heaters. THEY ARE VERY DANGEROUS! They are often the cause of fire in our district and throughout our county. Please use them in accordance to the manufacture’s instructions. Please keep them at least 3 feet away fro...m ANYTHING, especially piles of clothing/debris that can potentially fall upon the heater. Make sure they are plugged directly into a properly grounded plug in. These heaters are not designed to be plugged into extension cords or power strips. It is recommended that if you absolutely have to use these, please make sure the unit is equipped with a working safety switch. Please check the cord for any damage prior to plugging in. Please remain safe during this event. It’s easier to prevent fires than to put them out. Sincerely, Your neighbors at the Eagletown VFD

Greetings! Today, we responded to a structure fire involving a shed behind a residence. The shed was a total loss but our department was able to keep it from damaging the residence. At our last couple of meetings, we have discussed the need of apparatus to be stationed in the Panki Bok area. Our protection area ends at the intersection of Panki Bok Road and Laster Lane. So, we have decided to begin looking for property to purchase or sign a long term lease on, to house ...a fire engine, tanker, and wild land/medical response truck. If anyone has any ideas of property for sale, please let us know. Over the last two years, a large volume of our calls have been in this area and we think it would be a good decision to go forward with. We are also looking for large water sources, such as ponds to construct dry fire hydrants. The fire department will bear the cost of installation and maintenance as long as the property owner agrees to give us access to the water in times of emergencies. Having these available in our district will allow us to lower our homeowner and business insurance rates in our area. If you are interested in any of the projects, please let us know. We are having a meeting tomorrow February 1 at 7 pm, message us on Facebook, or email us at [email protected] Thanks for all your support, Your friends and neighbors of the EVFD

As the old saying goes, All good things must come to an end. Recently, Assistant Fire Chief Trey Casanover announced that he will be stepping down and retiring from the Eagletown VFD after 20 years of service. Trey began his career in 2000 as a firefighter. He also served for the city of Broken Bow as a volunteer firefighter. He was later hired as a full time firefighter and served there for several years. Casanover was appointed Lieutenant of the Eagletown VFD and ser...ved as the department’s safety officer. Trey was appointed as Assistant Chief of Department over a decade ago. He developed the department’s rookie training program and has been the lead instructor of the department’s Volunteer Firefighting Practices class that he has taught for the past 5 years. Casanover has received several awards, including the Fire Chief of the Year as awarded by his peers of the McCurtain County Firefighter’s Association. Trey has presented and lead discussions at the Oklahoma State Firefighters Association Volunteer Fire Caucus in legislative matters affecting firefighters across the entire state of Oklahoma. As the Assistant Fire Chief, he has been in charge of the department’s purchasing program, updating firefighters into compliant gear and apparatus. Trey’s retirement will leave a tremendous hole for our department to fill. said Fire Chief Mark Hannah. He is leaving with a wealth of knowledge and ability. Casanover will be staying on board for a few months as a Special Deputy Chief of Administration to assist the incoming Assistant Fire Chief. Enjoy your well deserved retirement Chief Casanover.
