The triple-digit heat index didn’t stop us from having a productive day excavating fossils yesterday! Our participants found a variety of invertebrate fossils, including brachiopods, horn coral, and trilobites. Through the heat they managed to stay focused and work hard, and ended up finding more trilobites than we ever have in one visit to the site! #explorology #paleontology #invertebrate #fossils #stem

After the start of Oklahoma Science Adventure, we asked our participants: what skills does a scientist need to be successful, and what has been your favorite part of the Adventure so far?

The search is over - click the link in bio to see pictures from this year’s Oklahoma Science Adventure on Facebook now! We promise it will be much easier to find than the tadpoles our students where collecting. #explorology #science #oklahoma #fieldwork #stem #exploreok #biology

What an amazing start to our Oklahoma Science Adventure 2019! We spent the first few days of our Adventure at the Rogers County Conservation District, where we had the opportunity to experience Oklahoma nature and science up close. Working with Robert Gibbs of the RCCD, the Sam Noble Museum's recent invertebrates curator Dr. Katrina Menard, and the museum's vertebrate paleontology curator Dr. Nick Czaplewski, we learned how scientists in multiple fields are able to conduct field research and experiments. We even got the chance to design and conduct our own research project - with topics including plant variety, tadpole and fish populations, and animal tracks, we covered several "ologies" with our own research! We'll hear our participants experiences later today; in the meantime, check out some pictures of our last several days!
