Jesus is quite familiar with being treated horribly. He intimately knows the hurt that another can inflict. Yet He offers forgiveness to all, even those whose sin sent Him to the cross. He did not stand up for Himself; He laid down His life for those who treated Him horribly. Every one of us has hurt Jesus & treated Him with callous indifference, maybe even outright cruelty. When we refuse to forgive another, we may unknowingly be making the claim that we are more valuable than the very Son of God; our inflicted pain is of a greater concern & deserves a greater consequence. Is it any wonder God’s forgiveness eludes those who consider their pain of more consequence & elevate themselves above Jesus Christ? From Open Windows, Monday, May 3
