A day in the life of George Whitefield, September 25, 1738 (while he was sailing across the Atlantic): Was oppressed much in spirit these two days. The wind was contrary, and the sea wrought and was tempestuous; but blessed be God. He enabled me to be resigned to His will, this outward and inward trial being only what was to be expected after my late assistance. We must not always be upon the Mount in this life.

We who know the Lord should take time to trace out God’s grace and unforeseen acts of providence that trained us and brought us to the service of His Church.
