Check it out - in the pics, we have a baby squash, zucchini and cucumber. These are all coming real soon. Who has been missing our lettuce, besides us? Great new - we will have our delicious lettuce mix next week at the opening of the Edmond Farmer's Market along with carrots, beets, spinach, arugula and kale. And the market will have lots of new vendors this year, so don't miss the season opening on April 17th. See you then.

Hey, it's starting to look like a farm again. In the last few weeks, we have been busy preparing the gardens and have planted lots of onions, beets, carrots, kale, spinach, and arugula. Later this week, I will plant lettuce, cucumbers, radishes and turnips, will more planned after that. Our winter cover crops are growing strong and we are busy planting our spring cover crops too. Lots of good heathy veggies coming to you soon.

We released ladybugs today in one of the high tunnels in Guthrie to today. They are great at eating aphids and other pests. Outside, we grow a lot of cover crops that attract aphids and other beneficial insects, but it's hard to get them in the high tunnel naturally, so we supplement with purchased ladybugs. Now, go to work ladies.

Just picked up a new broadfork made local at Mayfield Metal Works in Piedmont. After 4 years, I bent and broke a commercial brand name fork. This one is heavier and stronger. It will probably last 10 to 15 years. We use broadforks to break up the compacted soil as an alternative to tilling the soil. Tilling destroys the ecosystem of the soil and kills all the beneficial microbes and many other living organisms that are needed to grow healthy plants. Healthy soil = healthy plants. Healthy plants = healthy veggies. This is one on many of the ways we create healthier food for you. OK, 2 beds down, over 60 more to go. Anyone want a free personal trainer and workout???
