Brian Schwartz, Thank you for the article. I guess this must be one the reasons that The Indonesian government declared Rendang as one of the 5 National Dish. It is that good. We are here in Tulsa to bring the authentic version of Rendang for everyone to enjoy.

I have a longstanding love affair with siomay. Whenever I eat Indonesian, I eat this first. It's so yummy. It was originally inspired by a Chinese dumpling dish... but people in Sunda (West Java) loved it and it's now considered part of Sundanese cuisine, even though its heavy peanut sauce (the best part!) isn't typical of Sunda, which leans toward clear broths and sharp, pure flavors. Indri Bahar is from Sunda and she always does a great job on this dish. It contains little minced fish spheres as well as tofu, meatballs, egg, potato and cabbage, and of course the peanut sauce, with a bit of chili sauce too. At Rendang Indonesian Bistro. See more
