My last call the cutest little girl hugged me and said, " thank you for fixing our dryer."

The one on top wasn't very happy I was out to repair his owners range, he wouldn't even look at me. The one on the bottom is just some jack-ass I stumbled across.

Little surprises like this from the people I work for is why I consider myself the luckiest man alive. Makes my heart happy when someone appreciates your services.

Had some visitors last call. Under 24 hours old. Made my day better.

Have received many calls over the last few days about washing machines flooding laundry rooms. Most of the complaints are the washer filling when it's not being used. That is an Inlet assembly issue. You cannot disable the water coming into the tub by simply unplugging the appliance, you must shut the water supply valve off. Also, it's never a bad idea once a quarter to shut hot/cold side all the way off then back on. Hard water takes its toll on water valves and shut off valves.

If your washer is in your garage you might want to wait on attempting to wash some laundry. Had a customer try to use after getting her pipes thawed out. She used hot water to wash in and apparently when she did this, the ice in the tub cracked the outer tub. She sent me a pic of where the tub was cracked. The outer tub is no longer avaialable which is frustrating because she had the best washer ever assembled, in my opinion. For future reference, when the temp get below 20 degrees for a few days, you can add 20-30 oz of antifreeze in the bottom of the tub to protect the tub, the water pump and the hoses.

Good morning! I just wanted to share something with you in regards to parts. I had a lady become upset with me earlier. I try and do my best to help when people call. Even to the point where some will do it themselves. (I have become better at being tight lipped .) I know mostly all of us are facing challenging times. It was determined after speaking with her that she needed an oven thermostat. I text my parts guy and gave her the quote and she told me to go ahead and order ...the part. Twenty minutes later she messaged me and said she found the part almost 20% cheaper and asked me if I would put the part on if she ordered it. (Mind you she gave me the green light to order.) I told her no.She was not happy about that. Here is why I told her no. OEM parts, (original equipment manufacturer,) are all we put on. If the part fails that you buy from us, in many cases the part has a one year warranty. If the part fails, I take care of you. It doesn't happen often but if it does happen, I take care of you. If I put an aftermarket part on and something goes wrong, it is then my responsibility to take care of you. Aftermarket might be a touch cheaper, but you get what you pay for. She told me she would call someone else. I wished her the best of luck. See more

With the possibility of more controlled blackouts, I just wanted to come on here and give a little advice. If power does in fact go out, make sure and unplug as many appliances as you possibly can until power is restored and consistent. If you don't unplug them all, make sure and unplug refrigerators and freezers. Newer appliances are extremely vulnerable to power surges. Stay safe and warm. Thanks, Jason.

If you have a refrigerator in your garage and the freezer is not working properly, don't worry about it. The fridge thermostat is what tells the unit to run or not. With the temps the way they are, your fridge is not running much at all. Just wanted to share as we have taken many calls like this the last couple of days. Thanks, Jason.

If your washer is in the garage I recommend not even attempting to use your washing machine. Your washer always holds a little water in the bottom and inside the pump. Attempting to use can crack your outer tub or damage the motor, both are not good at all. If you're desperate to do laundry and your supply lines aren't frozen, you can always bring your washer inside the house and let it sit for 24 hours. After the 24 hours, everything will be thawed out. Before taking it back... outside, pour about 20 oz of antifreeze inside the the tub and add a little water. That way when you are ready to do laundry, you are able too. Just make sure and pump the antifreeze out before each use. And when washer is idle for several hours, make sure and pour some more antifreeze in tub. Not the most ideal thing to do but desperate times require desperate measures. See more

If you're house has a hard time keeping temperature during this cold weather, you can always unhook your dryer vent and let it blow in the house. You'll be pleasantly surprised how good this actually works. Not a bad idea for frozen pipes either.

Note to self..... Parking on a slight incline is not recommended in such conditions.

One of my costumers has been without a range since Dec 18th. The part she needed was no longer available. I checked to see if we could get the part remanufactured to no avail. This is an older, sweetheart of a woman who lives by herself and she loves to bake. Honestly, I think she lives to bake. She was supposed to have a home warranty on the appliance but she has been put through the ringer dealing with that company. I could tell by the joy in her voice that something good happened. Her son bit the bullet and bought her a wall oven and installed it for her. This makes my heart happy. I love the relationships I have with many of my customers. And I love that she is now able to do what she loves. Little phone calls like that make my life quite enjoyable.
