Let’s talk shampoo bars! When first using a shampoo bar, you may experience a "waxy" feel to the hair after washing. This is often referred to as "the purge" ...or "the waxies" in the shampoo bar community and could be the result of one of two things: a bad reaction with hard water, OR an adjustment to balancing out your scalp's oil production. Both "the purge" and "the waxies" can usually be remedied with an Apple Cider Vinegar rinse or a matcha rinse! The good news is that the "waxy feel" is TEMPORARY and simply a brief phase! I have experienced the waxies! I am doing an Apple Cider Vinegar rinse! This is just convenient and I LOVE using it on my hair! It always makes my hair SO soft! The smell can be hard to stomach to some so if you can’t stand the smell, the matcha way is best for you! Using matcha: Using a large glass, pitcher, or up-cycled squeeze bottle, place 1/2 teaspoon of product into 12-16oz of warm water and mix well (use up to 1 tsp for long hair). After shampooing with the shampoo bar tilt head back and pour the rinse slowly through your hair making sure to fully hydrate the roots and working it through to the ends of hair. Allow it soak for about 2 minutes (or longer if you want) then rinse thoroughly with cool water for best results! Do this with apple cider vinegar as well! I slightly dilute my ACV I couldn’t tell you the ratio I just do what feels right! I use a upcycled squeeze bottle and I make sure to scrub my scalp very thoroughly making sure to fully get the ACV in every inch of my hair and I let it set for 3-5 minutes! Even if you don’t use a natural shampoo doing a hair cleansing rinse with either method would be extremely beneficial for your hair! *Shampoo Bars are not hair dye friendly! It will remove hair color pretty quickly* Peace and Love!
