Here ya go - for all those JH kids who wonder why they have to read lol
Happy Birthday, Beverly Cleary! 103 years young! Who else grew up loving Ramona?
Happy 115th birthday, Dr. Seuss!
I love this quote by Kate DiCamillo! As a teacher, I’ve always wanted to make sure that reading is seen as fun. Sure, kids need direct instruction in reading, b...ut a large part of the reading time in my opinion should be spent with students reading a self-selected book with no strings attached. Yep, I said that... No reading logs, no book summaries (for free reading), no any kind of anything. We have to trust the process, trust our students, and know that time spent in independent reading is beneficial to them as readers. Once kids capture this reading for pleasure mode, amazing things can happen! See more

Who can relate -
This is sad news. I read The Cabin Faced West many times with my 4th and 5th graders and her autobiography called Homesick was beautiful.
March is National Reading Month! What are you reading?
