Our legacy is of battles fought and won. More than 70 years ago, Navajo code talkers created an unbreakable code that allowed Marines to pass sensitive information that could not be decrypted by the enemy. LCpl Natema Yazzie's grandfather was one of these Few with the determination to win any battle. Today, LCpl Yazzie builds on her grandfather's legacy as she prepares for her first deployment with @26MEU. Read their story: usmarin.es/Ioy2lS

Every location offers Marines an opportunity to train under new conditions and become better prepared to win in any combat environment. For the Marines with Combat Assault Company, 3rd Marine Regiment, the area around Marine Corps Base Hawaii provided unique conditions for a long range swim training exercise earlier this month. The training event afforded the Marines the opportunity to obtain realistic experience operating amphibious assault vehicles in the conditions they may face in combat. Photo by LCpl Luke Kuennen

We are a force of readiness because we are always preparing for our next fight. Every exercise prepares us to be lethal in battle. Here, a Marine with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (@26MEU), engages a target during combat marksmanship training on the flight deck of the USS Oak Hill as part of Combined Composite Training Unit Exercise (COMPTUEX). The realistic training scenarios allow the Marines to train prior to an upcoming deployment at sea. Photo by SSgt Dengrier M.... Baez #USMC #Marines #MarineCorps #FightingSpirit

At the Chosin Reservoir, Marines were surrounded and outnumbered 8-to-1 by the Chinese army. The worst weather in 50 years cut off air support and assaulted the Marines with snow, wind and temperatures of -40 degrees F. In spite of these obstacles, the Chosin Few were determined to prevail. They fought their way back to the sea to rejoin the American forces. Photo by Cpl McDonald. #USMC #MarineCorps #Marines #FightingSpirit #ThrowbackThursday #TBT http://ht.ly/A7NC30gdLCg
