ROLLING BLACKOUTS NOW OCCURRING TO ALL COMMANDS AND THE PUBLIC, PER SOUTHWEST POWER POOL PROTOCOL, OGE HAS INITIATED TEMPORARY INTERRUPTIONS IN SERVICE IN THE ...FOLLOWING AREAS: OKC, FORT SMITH, MUSKOGEE, TISHOMINGO, NORMAN, EDMOND, PAULS VALLEY, ENID,WOODWARD, GLENPOOL, YUKON,KINGSTON, AND ARDMORE. SOME CUSTOMERS IN THESE AREAS MAY EXPERIENCE A SERVICE INTERRUPTION OF UP TO 2 HOURS. Service interruptions are mandated by SPP in order to manage regional system load. The SPP alerts are due to several factors resulting from widespread, long-lasting and extreme cold weather. These factors include, but are not limited to, high electricity use across the entire SPP system and limited wind power and natural gas availabilityCustomers can minimize further interruptions help by reducing natural gas and electricity use through simple conservation steps such as: Postpone using major electric appliances such as stoves, dishwashers, and clothes dryers until mid-day or after 9 p.m. when the demand for electricity decreasesTurn off electric lights and appliances that you do not need or are not usingBusinesses should minimize the use of electric lighting and electricity-consuming equipment as much as possibleLarge consumers of electricity should consider shutting down or reducing non-essential production processes WE'LL ADVISE AS INFORMATION COMES IN MIKE HONIGSBERG, DIRECTOR OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT See more
We have been directed by the Southwest Power Pool, to initiate temporary service interruptions to manage regional system load and avoid protracted power outages.... This will likely continue to be the case over the next few days because of the continued cold weather across the region and the demand for natural gas. It is urgent we all do our part to conserve power to help the region navigate this current situation and minimize further interruptions. See more
Stay safe and stay inside if possible these next coming days.
Last night one of our firefighters retired. Congratulations Brian! Thank you for all your hard work!
