Public Service Announcement | February 14, 2021 | 2:15 PM As Red River Valley strives to continue to providing reliable service to our members through these... extreme weather conditions, we ask our members to lend a helping hand in assisting with energy conservation efforts. The extremely cold temperatures can be taxing on the electric power grid and by working together, we can lessen the chance of overloading the power grid. Please help conserve your energy use during this winter storm by: -Minimizing the use of non-essential appliances -Alternating using your dryer, oven, and dishwasher -Adjusting your thermostat down 1-2 degrees -Utilizing alternative heating fuels (wood, propane, natural gas) Red River Valley appreciates the sacrifices our members are making to get through this winter weather and avoiding unnecessary power outages.

Love County, it is time to get serious about thinking about and planning for some dangerous weather. While we are currently predicted to receive 6 to 8 inches ...of snow from Sunday into Monday, please don’t focus on that. That number will likely change between now and then. What won’t change is the bitter single digit and possibly negative actual temperature with even worse wind chills. Start thinking about your family, neighbors, homes, pets, livestock and vehicles. Make your preparations over the next few days. Be safe with your heating equipment, protect your water supply, have extra food for you and your animals. Be prepared for frozen water troughs. Be prepared to be snowed in for several days. If conditions get bad please don’t get on the roads unless you have to. PLEASE DO NOT CALL 911 OR DISPATCH UNLESS IT IS AN ACTUAL EMERGENCY. Our emergency resources are stretched thin and our responders have been working overtime, give them a break and don’t add to the list of victims and property damage. Be safe out there and let’s all look after one another. WINTER WEATHER OUTLOOK...A significant snowstorm is expected to begin Saturday night in northwest Oklahoma, then spread quickly southeast through the day on Sunday. The heaviest snowfall will probably occur Sunday night and early Monday. Snowfall totals of 5 to 10 inches will be the rule, with higher amounts in some areas. The "dry" nature of the snow will make it particularly susceptible to being blown around by the wind, and drifting snow is likely. Near-blizzard conditions may occur in unprotected areas Sunday night and Monday. In addition to the snow, very cold weather and moderate winds will produce dangerously cold wind chills throughout Oklahoma and north Texas from Saturday through Tuesday. Please refer to our Hazardous Weather Outlook for additional details.
