April Tournament News: We had a great day on Grand Lake today with 3, 5# plus bass and 2 smaller ones. Our 5 fish limit weighed in at 19.71 and earned us a 9th... place finish in a field of 250 teams. That will keep us in good standing for angler of the year. Last week, Durant State Fish Hatchery and the Northeast Region Fisheries staff teamed up to stock Florida strain largemouth bass into Grand Lake. A total of 270... 1 year-olds, and 67 pre-spawn brooders were stocked. These fish will now spawn with our native northern strain bass and boost trophy potential. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, The ODWC stocked fingerling FLMB into Grand, which never took hold due to the colder weather. This new group of fish have the fat stores to make it through the winters, and some are ready to spawn. Should they spawn with northern strain largemouth bass, the result would be fish with higher growth potential that can persist in the cooler climate. This is just another way we are trying to improve the experience for our constituents here in Oklahoma. #AlwaysOpen #FishinOK
