Congratulations to the 2021 Foundation Site Grant winners! Today members of our Board delivered over $53,000 to our recipients! These funds will have an affect on over 7,700 next school year alone! Moore Public Schools #moorestrong

This past fall, Ms. Tanner, kindergarten teacher from Houchin elementary school, was a Foundation grant recipient. With her funding, Ms. Tanner was able to purchase a writing table for her kindergarten classroom. Writing tables are such an asset to classrooms, especially in Kindergarten. One of the reasons to introduce table activities is to prepare children for 1st grade. Playing at a table helps build posture control, boost writing skills, promotes school readiness skills, ...and fosters independence. All my students benefited from my writing table. The writing table gave my students the opportunity to write/draw during centers in a place that is specifically meant for writing. They were able to stay focused and have all the needed supplies with them at the table. It worked out great! My students have benefited from this grant in many ways. My students use the writing table during literacy centers and ask to go there when they finish their work early to free draw, write sentences, and practice writing their sight words. Say hello to Ms. Clark 4th grade Reading and Language Arts teacher at Oakridge Elementary PTA! This past fall, Ms. Clark was a Foundation grant recipient. With her funding, she was able to purchase flexible seating called wobble cushions for her 4th grade class. A wobble cushion is a disk cushion that is inflatable and strong enough to stand or sit on. It encourages the student to sit correctly, more upright, and enhances concentration. When students saw the cushions, they we...re thrilled and have been using them as much as they are allowed. I have seen a boost in classroom morale as well as better stamina for independent reading and work. Students are working harder, longer, better, and falling out of their seats much less! They look forward to the times they can use the seats and will do anything they need to in order to earn the incentive of the seats!
