Muskogee's Habitat has been going through some changes that we want to tell you about as well as introduce you to some important rocks that we need to move if we are going to be a successful organization.

ANNOUNCEMENT!! Muskogee Habitat for Humanity is currently working on helping repair homes damaged in last years flood. We have been focused on this critical need in our community for several months. This need will continue as well as our upcoming new home build this year. With this in mind, we have decided that we will not be hosting a Chocolate Festival this year. ... We appreciate your support and understanding as we focus on these needs in our community! The Chocolate Festival will be BACK next year and we look forward to seeing you all there again! SCAM ALERT!! Homeowners, I am saddened and frustrated to have to inform you that I received several reports today of individuals running a scam in our community using the Habitat for Humanity name. These reports came from case mangers working cases of flood survivors in the Fort Gibson area. According to reports, there is at least one individual, operating in the Fort Gibson area, going door to door stating they represent Habitat for Humanity and promising to assist homeown...ers with construction projects. They are then asking the homeowner to sign some documentation and attach some form of payment or access to funds. Working with the Disaster Response Committee, and the case managers, we have put in place new operating procedures that will help combat this fraud and better protect the flood survivors, our affiliate and the community. Please help me by getting this information out to our community: All communication with flood survivors concerning project assessments will come to the homeowners via Muskogee County Disaster Response Committee (MCDRC) case mangers. All assessors will be accompanied by a credentialed case manger. Habitat for Humanity will not be conducting any further project assessments related to flood damaged homes. If any homeowner has any questions concerning flood recovery or assistance they are to contact the MCDRC case management team. Muskogee Habitat for Humanity is still fully committed to assisting those in need in our community and the actions of this individual(s) will not deter us from fulfilling that mission.
