As this Thanksgiving season approaches, I am reminded how fortunate I am to serve with such an outstanding group of people. The Rogers County Sheriff's Deputies... and Administrative Support Staff are dedicated, hard working, and committed to serving the citizens of our County. I encourage you to give them a friendly smile or a kind word to let them know you appreciate them as much as I do. I am truly fortunate to have them by my side. Like all law enforcement officers, I am thankful for the support of my family and friends. I appreciate their patience and understanding for all the times I'm called out in the middle of dinner or the middle of the night. I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the residents of Rogers County. Your efforts to enhance safety and cooperation with our Office helps make our County a great place to live and work. I am thankful for the assistance you provide through the Crime Tips Hotline, website, and in person. I sincerely appreciate your commitment to the safety of our community. My commitment to the citizens of this County has never been stronger. I will continue to work with you to improve the quality of life for each resident we serve. The support you've shown to me and the entire Sheriff's Office during this past year has been overwhelming. Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving! Sheriff Scott Walton

Teen Driver Awareness Week (October 18-24) Speeding is a critical issue for young drivers. In 2013, it was a factor for 29 percent of teen driver's fatal crash...es. A study by GHSA found that from 2000-2011 there were 19,447 speed-related crashes involving teen drivers. Half of fatal crashes involving 16-year-old drivers with three or more passengers are speeding-related. In addition, speeding was found to be more prevalent among males, at night. There is also evidence from naturalistic driving studies that teens' speeding behavior increases over time, possibly as they gain confidence (Klauer et al., 2011, Simons-Morton et al., 2013). Get Involved: Teens that are monitored closely tend to speed less. Take the lead to do more to address speeding behavior among your teen driver and get involved in the learning-to-drive process.
