Can only see a few but there's 10 little baby skunks all snuggled up in that fleece pouch. It has been an extremely busy spring season with intakes double what they were this time last year. Resources are getting pretty tight so please consider donating to help out these little ones and countless others.

Transport needed! Urgent!! For a baby raccoon From Jet to Perkins. The finder has had her for a few days feeding goats milk, not the worst diet in the world but certainly lacking in property nutrients and will lead to nutritional deficiencies if not corrected.

The summer season continues to be exhausting and getting hotter everyday so here's a fun story featuring our macaw, Jack. For the first 15 or so years of his life Jack was a healthy, young "boy". Within the past couple weeks I noticed he was acting a little weird and his vent was showing bare skin. Suspicious, I felt around his abdomen and detected a hard mass inside. I was pretty sure what this meant but we went to the vet to confirm and sure enough, Jack is a girl! "He" has laid three infertile eggs and is acting a bit more normal now. Hopefully no more eggs in there for a while but it's hard to say how many she'll lay before the hormones pass.

No matter how many times I see it, I'm always amazed at how fast birds grow! The first picture was taken on the day these two babies came in, June 7th. The second picture was taken just now, only 6 days later. ... These are the same birds! In only 6 days these Robins went from helpless nestlings to near fledglings! This is why rehabbers always stress how important it is to never feed baby birds anything and to get them to a licensed rehabilitator right away (if that is what they need). They grow so fast that even just one feeding of the incorrect food can cause lasting nutritional problems or kill them. Thankfully, these babies were brought in right away and they've had the correct diet and nutrition to grow strong and healthy!

I wish I could just go back to bed like these little skunkies but all the rest of the babies aren't going to feed themselves.

It has been a difficult day dealing with difficult people but we did have one of our first real presentations today and that was fantastic! It's been a while. Hopefully we will have some pictures from that soon. In the mean time, here's a couple little kestrels with their breakfast mice.

Noctus is back from his follow up appointment with nothing but praise! His eye injury is healing up really well and everything looks great! That right eye will always have a large pupil like this; that is the result from his original injury as a nestling that made him non releasable. Marks from this most recent surgery will be basically non visible once he heals completely and the feathers grow back. We're so grateful that this wasn't a more serious issue, despite how te...rrifyingly awful he liked when we discovered it. So happy to have him back to his normal adorable self and building his confidence in all be things to become a great education bird! He'll even debut in his first official program tomorrow at 2pm at the Perkins library! We still need to raise about $700 to cover the cost of all of his emergency vet care so any little bit helps!
