The 2020 Mardi Gras Parade King and Queen will be Keith and Jill Wells of Norman. The couple have been participating in The Parade for 25 years. Their Krewe: The Krewe of Bogus began in 1995 after their first trip to New Orleans Mardi Gras parades. They came home with so many beads they decided to start the krewe as a joke and a tribute to a famous New Orleans Krewe Bachus. They had so much fun they decided to do it again and again. Many loyal friends were enlisted to help ov...er the years. They always prided themselves on having the best bead throws and Moon Pies . They won several trophies over the years and made a lot of great memories. Jill joined the planning committee 15 or 20 years ago and helped with whatever was needed to make the event happen. She and her daughter Julia began designing trophies from recycled ones and are treasured by many krewes. Jill is an Associate Librarian at the new Pioneer Library Central in Norman. She has hosted The Mardi Gras Mask Making event in February for several years and it's a very popular event. She also enlisted the help of fellow librarians to Judge and participate. She is retired from Southwest Airlines and has volunteered for Cleveland County Democrat Party and several public events over the years. Keith is retired from General Motors and is a part time shuttle driver. He is the neighborhood handy man and is always willing to help out a friend . He is also a 10 gallon plus donor for The Oklahoma Blood Institute. He always comes through when the parade needs an extra hand. The couple celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in 2019. Their daughter Julia Wells is an artist and designed this years poster as well as last years. It's a family event and a great opportunity to spend time with friends. Thank you! ~ Jill and Keith Wells, Julia, and Krewe of Bogus
