Today marks the 100th anniversary of The Tulsa Race Massacre and the complete destruction of Black Wall Street in Greenwood. For more than 18 hours, a white mob attacked the predominantly Black neighborhood with guns, fire, and even bombs from above killing at least 300 and leaving over 10,000 homeless. We encourage you to learn more to help keep this event alive, to honor survivors and descendants, and to let it serve as an example of the results of such violent hatred.

During an emotional and poignant testimony to a House Judiciary Subcommittee in Washington D.C. on May 19, 107-year-old Ms. Viola Fletcher recalled her first-hand memories of the #TulsaRaceMassacre as the eldest living survivor. She and 2 other survivors spoke as part of a suit filed against the State of Oklahoma and City of Tulsa for their respective roles in the Massacre. No arrests were ever made nor have any sort of reparations ever been granted. View her entire speech below.
