OKC West Livestock Market LLC

6,200 sold this week at OKC West. The feeder market took another hit this week, down 2.00-5.00. Packers continue to be able to buy finished cattle cheap(119 today) and sell boxed beef high(305). Cattle feeders have not only lost all leverage in trade but are getting hammered by higher feed costs resulting in the poor feeder market we are in. However, the market feels like it is trying to make a bottom as the futures actually closed higher today. Let’s hope for a turnaround soon. Have a great week. Bill Barnhart

6,300 sold this week at OKC West. Unseasonably cool weather so far this May has helped to spread out the graze out run. The country throughout most of the trade area is in excellent shape. Cattle have done it all. Lots of big feeders continue to come through the sale. The market this week managed to hold onto last week’s sharp gains. Packers continue to plug along buying fats at 119-120. Choice boxes closed at 323 today. Have a great week. Bill Barnhart
