Pi fun fact: Pi is an irrational number meaning it cannot be expressed as a fraction and it’s decimal value does not terminate or repeat. Some of Pi’s more famous irrational friends are the Golden Ratio and Euler’s number. #TheMoreYouKnow #PiDayIsMyDay C/O Diana Bittle
Happy Pi Day!! Pi Day Fun Fact courtesy of OEF Board member and lover of math, Diana Bittle: Archimedes was one of the earliest mathematicians to approximate Pi...around 250 BC!
Happy International Women's Day! Our friends at Girlswhocode partnered with Accenture to address the need to attract and retain women in technology. Read the report here: chrome-extension://gphandlahdpffmccakmbngmbjnjiiahp/https://www.accenture.com//Accenture-A4-GWC-Report-Final1.
Engineers Week 2021 will run from February 21 to 27. This year’s theme -- Imagining Tomorrow -- recognizes the role engineers play in developing solutions to combat climate change, secure cyberspace, develop vaccines, and make the world a better place for all of us. This Engineers Week we hope that you’ll take a moment to recognize and celebrate the work of engineers and engage students in engineering. OEF is hosting our 40th Annual Engineering Fair virtually this Wednesday and we are so excited to see students across the state working to put the "E" in STEM education! Additionally, our partners at DiscoverE.org have free resources you can use to inspire future innovators, such as hands-on engineering activities and lesson plans, information about engineering education, and pathways to technical careers.
The 40th Annual Engineering Fair is going virtual to ensure the safety of our students, teachers, and volunteers. Be sure to check out the available competitions and their rules by visiting: http://oef.org/programs/engineering-fair/contest-rules
