My father is a veteran. My father is the most caring, devoted, dedicated, loving, and wonderful man I know. He has shown through example how to be the best man I can be, and I love him dearly for that. This man, who has served in the United States Air Force my entire childhood, who is a war hero to me after serving in multiple conflicts, still managed to be a father to me. He is also responsible for encouraging my growth as a musician, and ultimately a Violin Maker. Just a fe...w days ago, I got to see him relive his youth as we listened to jazz standards. It really made me appreciate some of the sacrifices he made to serve. He was a young musician, a clarinet and sax player. But he gave up his dreams to serve, and in partnership with my mother, start a family. In Canada, he was a founding member of a small Air Force band, but today, he still feels that rush of "playing with the band" on stage. I can see he misses it. Thank you, father, for supporting me in all I do! So today, please remember our veterans. See more

Let’s help Oklahoma Strings!

We've setup a GoFundMe! Like many small businesses (we are a 3-person crew!), we are having a bit of a struggle this year. The rollercoaster of school openings and closings have created a vacuum in rentals, and in-person shops like ours are having a time of it competing with internet giants. Our GoFundMe is put together to mitigate some of the damages from rising costs with shrinking capital, and for us to continue the development of our model 100 and 200 instruments specific...ally targeted towards school programs and "first" instruments. We've also expanded our capacity and skill for repairs, and are making instruments in house again! In other news, we've been talking for the past year (in the before times) about launching an education program for our educators. We would like to continue that project and flesh out the details with new technologies and safety measures. There's a lot to look forward to as we near a new year. Please consider helping us out! Sadly, we have also lost power overnight. Christo will remain at the shop until 2PM to help before the cold really sets in. have no fear, our instruments are safe from the cold for a few days :) Please be safe! Something my wife and I had success with: 1 iron skillet... 2 cans of tomato sauce 1 can of kidney beans 1 lb groind beef seasoning to taste including ceyenne pepper, chili pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, and paprika cooked on the grill (we don't have gas at our house) Smokey flavor!!!!! Chips and cheese for bonus. makes a cheap but tasty warm meal.
