Pastor Chet’s Common Cense The Text - Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.... The Thought - Peter did not tell of one way to be saved. He declared the ONLY way. Salvation is only found in Christ alone, for His shed blood paid the price for the sin of every man. And those who believe in the Person and Work of Christ WILL be saved. But men seek for salvation without the Saviour. They crave forgiveness without trusting the one Person Who is qualified to save them - Jesus Christ the eternal Son of God and righteous Son of Man. Many people react negatively to the fact that there is no other name than that of Jesus to call on for salvation. Yet this is not something the church decided; it is the specific teaching of Jesus himself (Joh 14:6). If God designated Jesus to be the Savior of the world, no one else can be his equal. Christians are to be open-minded on many issues but not on how we are saved from sin. No other religious teacher could die for our sins; no other religious teacher came to earth as God's only Son; no other religious teacher rose from the dead. Our focus should be on Jesus, whom God provided as the way to have an eternal relationship with himself. There is no other name or way! The Takeaway - While many substitute Messiahs have been offered, only the True Messiah saves. While we often live for many lords, only one Lord liberates and sets us free from sin and death. While many ways are claimed to bring us close to God, Jesus insists that he is the only way. So we're driven to one ultimate reality: do we believe salvation is in Jesus alone, or do we not. It's our choice. But what we decide about Jesus is really deciding about everything. Is Jesus your Lord? Is Jesus the name above all names in your life? Is Jesus your Savior? If not, then please reconsider, for the Bible says: "Salvation is found in no one else."
