Attention private applicators! If your license expired in 2018 you have time to still get your open book test in or if you are wanting to get your private applicator license. We will be offering a private applicator session on May 25th from 6-8 pm at the Okmulgee County Fairgrounds. If you plan to attend you will need to RSVP to the county office by May 18 so we can have plenty of packets. If you wait until June 1 you will have to take this as a closed book test at a testing center. If you have a current private applicator license you will need to accumulate Continuing Education Units (CEUs) so that you do not have to take the test again in 2023. We will be offering 2 CEUs during this training on May 25th. If you have any questions call the office and remember to RSVP by May 18.

It's clear that Americans have a taste of salt, but salt plays a role in high blood pressure. Everyone, including kids, should reduce their sodium intake to less than 2,300 milligrams of sodium a day (about 1 teaspoon of salt). Adults age 51 and older, African Americans of any age, and individuals with high blood pressure, diabetes, or chronic kidney disease should further reduce their sodium intake to 1,500 mg a day. 1. Think fresh 2. Enjoy home-prepared foods 3. Fill up on ...veggies and fruits-they are naturally low in sodium 4. Choose dairy and protein foods that are lower in sodium 5. Adjust your taste buds 6. Skip the salt 7. Read the label 8. Ask for low-sodium food when you eat out 9. Pay attention to condiments 10. Boost your potassium intake See more
