Information on HEP HEP is a federally funded program designed to support migrant and seasonal farm workers (or their children who are 16 years of age or older and not currently attending secondary school to obtain their High School Equivalency HSE). Our goals are to support the success of migrant and seasonal farm worker student by helping them to enroll in, complete in their preparation and successful completion of their HSE exam. HEP will provide assistance for placement i...n universities, colleges, junior college, vocational institutions, military services, other post-secondary activities or career positions. The High School Equivalency Program (HEP) is funded by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Migrant Education (OME). To be eligible to participate in HEP a person, or his or her immediate family, must have spent a minimum of 75 days during the past 24 months as a migrant or seasonal farm worker; or the person must have participated (with respect to HEP within the last 24 months), or be eligible to participate, in program under 34CFR part 200, subpart C (Title I Migrant Education Program) or 20 CFR part 633 (Employment and Training Administration, Department of laborMigrant and Seasonal Programs). Has, or has at least one immediate family member who has, spent a minimum of 75 days during the past 24 months as a migrant or seasonal farm worker. Is eligible to participate, or has participated within the past 24 months, in the Migrant Education Program or the NFJP. Has not earned a secondary school diploma or its equivalent. Is not currently enrolled in an elementary or secondary school. Is 16 years of age or older, or beyond the age of compulsory school attendance in the State in which he or she resides. Is determined to need the academic and supporting services and financial assistance provide by HEP in order to attain the equivalent of a secondary school diploma and to gain employment or to be place in an institution of high education (IHE) or other postsecondary education or training.
