Today, I helped a client get a gun charge dismissed. He had a juvenile matter from over 10 years ago and was charged with possession of a firearm after former adjudication. If you have a former juvenile adjudication, if the charge would be a felony if tried as an adult, then you cannot possess a firearm for a period of ten years after the adjudication. In this case his adjudication was older than ten years. However, he was still charged and still had to go through the proces...s of being booked into jail and paying a bondsman and an attorney. After speaking with the prosecutor, she dismissed the possession of firearm charge along with kindly dismissing the remaining traffic charges. A great day for my client.
