This is what the explosion in breeding of French Bulldogs has done to people's expectations of what they should pay. They see all those internet puppies (and le...t's face it... all puppies are pretty cute) being sold cheaply because the parents are not being health tested, are not quality dogs themselves and were cheap to begin with, and are raised as cheaply as possible. Many are being sold by brokers who import cheap puppies from puppy mills overseas and resell them here at an inflated price. And way, way too often people are just scammed out of their money all together. Buy your puppy from a breeder that health tests and stands behind their dogs and beside you if you need them. You want someone who will be there for you to answer your questions, help you through the process of raising your puppy if you need help, will take back that puppy if you find out you made a mistake and aren't really ready for a puppy, will stand behind the contract they had you sign. You won't know how much you need that until it happens to you and without that honorable, ethical breeder in your corner you will be quite alone with whatever problems arise. Just saying...
